THE YEAR AHEAD ...

The NZ On Air financial year finishes on 30 June and the new funding year begins.  In the 2008/2009 funding year, we are budgeting to spend $5.4 million on the New Zealand music programme.  In 2007/2008, the budget was $5.2 million and so there is a small 4% increase overall.

We will invest in more Phase Four Albums ... in 2007/2008, we budgeted to do 20 albums (although we ended up going over-budget and doing 25 projects); in 2008/2009, we are budgeting on doing 25 albums from the start.  And the b.net student radio stations will get an increase in the funding that we give them for their New Zealand music programmes and promotions, their first increase in funding for many years.

Apart from that, it is pretty much business as usual in the year ahead - we will do another 170 music videos, another 20 New Recording Artist funding packages, a Kiwi Hit Disc a month, radio showcases and artist road trips, the same range of radio shows on commercial radio stations and on Kiwi and shows on C4 and Juice, and more.
