JUNE '09 MUSIC VIDEO DECISIONS

This is the last Music Video funding round for the 2008/2009 funding year (to 30 June). In the 2008/2009 funding year, we had the budget to do 170 music videos but in this last funding round for the year, we had enough left in the kitty to do 27 projects.

We got a record-equaling 167 applications for Music Video funding in the June round. Of the 167 applications, 61 songs made it to the first shortlist, based on feedback from the music television broadcasters when we tested the songs.

However, we can’t afford to do 61 projects and so, as usual, we had to go through a second shortlisting and prioritising process, as a result of which we will do 27 projects in this round.

The successful applications are listed below. Each project will get $5,000 to make a music video, subject to our standard terms and conditions of music video funding.

Decisions are based on the airplay potential of the song and the strategic value of the music video to the radio airplay campaign. Airplay potential is measured by first testing the songs with the music video broadcasters, and then we factor in current radio priorities.
