LAWRENCE ARABIA WINS 2009 APRA SILVER SCROLL!

Lawrence Arabia aka James Milne has been awarded the Apra Silver Scroll award for the best New Zealand song of the year for Apple Pie Bed. The song was co-written with the Phoenix Foundation's Luke Buda. It was chosen out of 400 songs, which were whittled down to 20 by a secret panel. Voting was then opened up to Apra members, who selected the top five songs.
Dimmer's Degrees of Existence, Jess Chambers' Island, Phil Madsen's Dancing on the Moon and Midnight Youth's The Letter were the other finalists.

Apra NZ director, Anthony Healey said Apple Pie Bed was "beautiful pop music with an edge, songwriting genius".

Milne was also a finalist for the 2006 APRA Silver Scroll for his song The Pool, however that year the award went to Don McGlashan for Bathe in the River.
